Two Ingredient-5 minute, Steamed Sweet Thai Chili Brussels Sprouts
Sweet Thai chili brussels sprouts may be the easiest recipe I ever post on here. Brussels sprouts are one of the healthiest foods I have learned to love as an adult. I actually got the idea from our local grocery store, HEB. They had a promotion a few months ago, giving away a free bag of sweet Thai chili sauce if you buy a prebagged, 12-ounce bag of fresh veggies from the produce department. They sell small bags of Thai sweet chili sauce next to the produce. If they don't sell them in sealed bags in the produce section you can just put them in a sealed ziplock bag and still microwave them the same.
We took one home and compared it to our big bottle of Mae Ploy and it looks exactly the same. Our reduced sugar recipe looks the same for that matter so if you are going for the healthier version you will want to have made that or make it. It tastes the same but less syrupy to me which is good. Here's the recipe. Please rate it if you like it because it helps others know it's worth trying. 🙂
Ingredients:
- 1 12-16 ounce bag of fresh brussels sprouts in a sealed bag or if in doubt about the plastic being used use glass or ceramic. Article on Safety with Plastic and Microwaves.
- ½ cup Thai sweet chili sauce.
For the sauce here's our recipe if you want a healthier version:
Instructions:
- Microwave the brussels sprouts for 3-4 minutes in the sealed bag.
- Cover with Thai sweet chili sauce to taste.
- Serve with your favorite garnish, we used bonito flakes because the steam makes them dance when served hot.

As with all our Thai recipes, we strive to improve them as much as possible to be healthier without losing flavor. Please consider your personal situation if you have health issues so they are healthy for you as your situation is fact dependent. If you have ideas to improve them please let us know in the comments section below and I can add them into the post real fast.
