Whole Wheat Roti and High Protein Peanut Butter
This will be a super short and simple recipe for mornings when you need short and simple yet something that packs a punch. While a lot of the western world is eating bagels with cream cheese for breakfast, the east is eating roti or rice. My wife likes to make a whole wheat roti occasionally in the morning and just eat it by itself.
This recipe adds some protein and I explain why it is important to not only go for whole grains but also to always eat protein with carbohydrates.
The rule of combining a carbohydrate with a protein to prevent triglyceride formation
A few years ago a co-worker was seeing a dietitian and let us know over office chatter. She learned it is healthier to always combine some form of protein with a carbohydrate to prevent triglycerides formation.
Triglycerides-
-Triglycerides are one of the main components of human fat. I could go into a lot of detail on how they can be harmful but for this post. I will just say that people with high triglycerides tend to develop many chronic conditions including; atherosclerosis, high blood pressure and other unattractive issues. You can read more from the Wikipedia article on it here. The main thing is that we are aware of how to eat to prevent an excess of the naturally occurring substance.
Roti
Roti is a common tortilla looking type of bread common throughout India and Southeast Asia. You can commonly find it in a whole wheat version which makes it worthy of our table and blog. 🙂
