Pomegranate Lychee Protein Smoothie
With my Pomegranate Lychee Protein Smoothie I made a colorful and flavorful drink. It has the healthiest kinds of protein, carbs and fluids all in one place. Pomegranates are one of the most beautiful fruit you can ever find. They are a fantastic addition to a lot of the Thai recipes often called tab tim which means, red ruby. You can bring a little more life to any dish or social by festooning your spread with their sparkling color. In this recipe I enhanced my bland old protein powder with pomegranate seeds and lychees.
Lychees complement the pomegranate seeds well with a floral sweet flavor that I love. Lychees, in case you are not aware of them, are a fruit native to Southeast Asia. They have a flesh similar to the inside of a grape but a more floral flavor that reminds me of rose oil or something. I can't really find the words. You have to try them to get it. Maybe you could find the word to describe it and put it in the comment section at the bottom of the page. They also have a sort of gummy consistency that I like. It reminds me of eating gummy worms. You can add gummy worms too if your wild and crazy.
My Pomegranate Lychee Protein Smoothie Recipe
This recipe is mostly inspired by a traditional Thai recipe called Tab Tim Grob. We have the recipe for tab tim grob you can check out if you want the traditional version. Tab tim grob is usually made with coconut milk. You can replace the water for a lower fat coconut milk if you prefer but I just used water.
Health Benefits and Concerns
Coconut milk is high in saturated fat so you may want to leave it out if you have cardiovascular disease. The supplements may also be questionable if you have issues. Creatine monohydrate has known side effects. As always, when in doubt check it out with your doctor. If you don't work out regularly you may not need the supplements. I took the class, Nutrition for Sport and Fitness as part of my B.S. and learned that these supplements are among the few with sufficient evidence to support their claims. I personally like them.
