Ginger Citrus Infusion Water

Ginger Citrus Water
This Citrus ginger infusion water recipe was one of my first and is a super easy combination you can easily alter depending on how much flavor you want. We have citrus falling off the trees and rotting all over Houston right now so we had a big pile about to go bad. You can take a $1 piece of ginger and a bag of random citrus fruit and make something that brightens your kitchen or living room. It also helps encourage better water drinking habits as an attractive alternative to soda.
For the recipe I had lemons, grapefruits, mandarin oranges and regular oranges that people have been giving me. I don't really think it matters how much or little you use because it's really just up to how you like it. I used a lot because I wanted to see how it tasted. I added ginger because it's a good energy booster and adds a bit more full flavor. Man, I need all the help I can get in the energy department!
In my version I got a some of the seeds and ginger in my glass so you may want to seed it. If it bugs you to get pieces of ginger in your drink you may also want to slice it in bigger pieces. Make sure you are washing everything first too. As always, make sure to let us know what would make this recipe better in the comments section below. 🙂
Recipe
Ingredients:
- 5-10 random pieces of citrus
- 1 piece of ginger scrubbed and sliced
- Ice and water to fill whatever container you have
Instructions:
- Slice the citrus to maximize surface area and look appealing
- Pulverize the ginger with a mortar and pestle or chop and pound into small pieces as to get the most juice possible
- Put some ice in the bottom of the container
- Add the citrus
- Add more ice
- Put the ginger on top so the water passes through it when you pour it unless you have the kind with the spickot on the bottom and then just put it all on the bottom as the first step.
- Server in an convenient area with cups out to encourage drinking some high quality H2O!. 🙂
