    Background

Thailand is a tropical country, and it is pretty much hot and humid all year long.  That is one of the reasons why there are so many types of salad dishes in Thai cuisine.  They need food that can cool their body temperature down and make them feel fresh at the same time.  Thai salads lead with the sour, spicy, and sweet flavors which are the tastes that Thai people love.  Thus in those recipes, they often have lime juice, dried or fresh Thai chili, fish sauce, soy sauce, and white or brown sugar as main ingredients for the dressing.

Today, we are going to change thing up just a bit to introduce you to a new kind of Thai salad.  Strawberry and apple Thai fruit salad is a mild mixture of fruit, vinegar, sugar, salt and Thai chili.  It is sometimes used to serve as a side dish or snack or fruit salad at the end of the meal.  Some of the Thai food such as Masaman Curry, Curry Puff, or any food that is deep fried or oily may give a greasy taste to the consumers.  Thus having some sour and sweet side dish is nice to make the meal more well rounded and pleasant.  This recipe has a relatively low-calorie count, and I think it is fantastic for a snack during a day or as a late night snack.

Benefit from the red and green fruit

Strawberry and apple Thai fruit salad is one of the more beautiful as well as nutrition rich recipes I know how to make.  First, the green apple contains a high amount of vitamin C which is the best source for antioxidants, a substance that can remove or neutralize free radicals in the blood stream.  Second, green apple is naturally low in calories and high in fiber, and it  is commonly recommended in a healthy  diet.  Lastly, the phytochemicals in strawberries can lower LHD cholesterol level which is bad cholesterol.

I selected to pair these two fruits together because of their texture.  Strawberry is soft, and green apple is crunchy, and they both absorb the sauce very well.  I chose Truvia sweetener over sugar, and I can decrease the number of carbs in this recipe about 80 grams and 300 calories.
