Thai Green Apple Salad (ตำแตงใส่แอ๊ปเปิ้ลเขียว)
Thai Papaya and/or green apple salad is my wife's favorite recipe ever. She makes it or buys some version of it at least every week or two and will drive all the way across town for it. It's pretty annoying sometimes.
It can be made several ways and if papaya is not available in your area at the time you want to make it you can use sour/ green apples instead and it still tastes good.
Ingredients:
- 2 Cucumbers (Cut out the seeds)
- 1 Green Apple
- 8 Thai Chili
- 1 lime
- 2 tablespoons of fish sauce
- 1 tablespoon of fish paste, (optional)
Instructions:
- Pulverize the chilis with a mortar and pestle.
- Slice the cucumber and green apple into small slices.
- Add lime juice, fish sauce and fish paste.
- Mix it all together in the mortar with the pestle until the cucumber and apple are soft and soak up the juices.
- If you want it sweeter you can add sugar to taste.
Enjoy!
