Super Easy Blackened Thai Chili Tuna Steaks
Easy blackened Thai chili tuna Steaks are way easier than I thought they would be. I thought blackened sounded technical when I first heard it until I tried it and realized it's easy. You can buy tuna steaks for like $5 at somewhere like Aldi. You take them out of the package and rinse them, rub in the powder, blacken them on each side and roast them in the oven for 5 minutes. It's that easy, I learned about it from another blog like this one.
Ingredients:
- 2-5 Ahi tuna steaks
- 4 tbsp. Thai chili powder (or whatever chili powder you like) below is one you can make.
- 2 tbsp. Olive Oil, canola oil or healthy butter substitute like olive oil butter
- 3-5 sprigs rosemary or whatever you like for garnish, we had this rosemary Christmas tree that was going to die anyways.
Instructions:
- Heat an oven to 400 degrees F.
- Rub the oil or healthy butter
- Rub Thai chili powder on the meat to the desired spiciness level, a little for a little or a lot for the delayed onset ring of fire.
- Heat a large ovenproof skillet like a cast iron skillet at high with a little oil or butter until it smokes, a few minutes.
- Blacken the tuna on each side for a minute or 2 until slightly blackened with the rosemary if you like that.
- Place the skillet in the oven and roast for another 5 minutes for medium-rare or a little longer if you are squeamish about the red coloration.
