Healthy Thai Grilled Fish Tacos Recipe
Grilled fish is one of the most common healthy Thai dishes you will find. Healthy Thai grilled fish is an easy way to quickly make a healthy meal on the grill. You can also use this recipe to make fish to add to other recipes like fish tacos and I will include the recipe for that on here. The ingredients are super simple, and as always you can modify them further as needed.
Making sure it lives up to the word "healthy"
This recipe is loosely adapted from the recipe one of our favorite blogs, The Spruce Eats, did. They do a great job and we love a lot of their recipes. We changed the soy sauce to a reduced sodium Tamari, which happens to also be gluten-free. You can use a reduced sodium soy sauce if you please. We left the fish sauce in, but you might want to get rid of it due to the high sodium content. You may also find a low sodium version or use the natural juices from the fish after you defrost if frozen instead. We also went for a lite brown sugar. Truvia makes a good one with way fewer calories. We use fresh Thai chili because they are so beautiful and signature Thai. We also went for a freshly squeezed lime.
What is healthy for one may not be healthy for others. We always try to rehab our Thai recipes as much as possible to make them as healthy as possible but your situation may require special needs. Adjust accordingly, or when in doubt, check it out with your doctor or dietitian.
Grilling tips
If you use a light flaky fish it could easily fall apart on the grill. I did it yesterday and it made a mess. I often use aluminum foil and wished I had yesterday. The tongs didn't really do the thing justice either. It was so light and flaky that it fell apart in my tongs. A spatula may be a better option here. Either way, handle with care and check that you are not burning the meat occasionally as the thickness of fillets vary.
Ingredients:
- 1 pound light flaky fish like cod or whiting
