Son originarios de China, pero empezaron a extenderse por el resto del mundo tropical y subtropical hace unos 1000 a\u00f1os. Son algo similares a los albaricoques en cuanto a su color y textura y, en ocasiones, tienen la piel pelada. Las de color amarillo anaranjado son dulces y las m\u00e1s verdes son m\u00e1s \u00e1cidas. El dulzor no es tan fuerte como en otras frutas, por lo que probablemente no sea una fruta muy conocida. Esto se remedia f\u00e1cilmente con un poco de estevia baja en calor\u00edas.
